Last Sunday, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was delivering a stump speech in New Hampshire in front of a large sign with the word “TRUTH” written on it. Perhaps due to a gust of political hot air, the sign fell over on Ramaswamy. Yes, Vivek was hit with the Truth. No doubt, the Truth hurt.
In this case, the truth is that Ramaswamy has no chance to win the 2024 Republican Party presidential nomination. Vivek is merely the flavor of the month, similar to Herman Cain (remember him?) in the 2012 Republican presidential nomination contest. Indeed, it appears that Ramaswamy’s poll numbers peaked on August 25, after two days in the spotlight following his annoying Republican debate performance. Accordingly, Vivek is really the flavor of last month, and, like that “Truth” sign, is likely tumbling down as we speak.
Sometimes, politicians’ words come back to bite them. That seems to be the case this week, as failed Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin‘s defamation trial against The New York Timeshad to be delayed when Palin tested positive for COVID. Palin had already declared last year that she had been diagnosed with COVID, but the trial judge in the current case noted that Palin still “is of course unvaccinated.” Indeed, Palin recently stated that she would get the Coronavirus vaccine “over my dead body.” Based on Sarah Palin’s own previous statements (some of them infamous), we can say the following:
1. COVID put its sights on Palin and said, “don’t retreat, reload.”
There were news reports this week that, last year, Donald Trump attended the first presidential debate against Joe Biden, as well as rallies, meetings with Gold Star families, and the infamous maskless White House COVID super-spreader party for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, all after learning that he had COVID. While these reports are shocking, and reveal behavior that seems criminally negligent at best, we also can’t help being reminded of a couple of expressions that Trump uses repeatedly to trash his opponents.
In particular, note that first Trump and then Biden (through Trump at the debate) were both exposed to the Coronavirus, but only Trump got infected. And then note that after four years of poor approval ratings, including the historic milestone of never even reaching 50 percent, Trump lost the election to Biden by over seven million popular votes and a very healthy electoral vote margin. So, to use Donald Trump’s own words, it turns out that Trump was both “weak” and “low-rated.”

Andrew Giuliani, son of Rudolph Giuliani of head-dripping, fed-raiding, Four Seasons Total Landscaping fame, announced yesterday that he is running for Governor of New York State as a Republican. Giuliani does have campaign experience, as this 1994 video demonstrates:
Republican waahmbulance on its way to rescue Donald Trump
This week, Donald Trump did poorly in his ABCNews town hall, so he was “ambushed” according to Fox “News.” Then Joe Biden did well in his CNN town hall, so he must have been given the questions and answers in advance, according to former Fox “News” host Bill O’Reilly. That sound you hear is the GOP waahmbulance on its way to rescue poor helpless Donald Trump.

Kanye West, whose presidential campaign is soon to be headed south
Kanye West, who says he is running for president as an independent under the “Birthday Party,” held his first political rally yesterday, in South Carolina, whose population is 27 percent black. At the rally, Kanye said that Harriet Tubman, a beloved national figure and former slave who rescued scores of fellow slaves via the Underground Railroad, “never actually freed the slaves, she just had them work for other white people.” And today, Kanye failed to meet the requirements to be placed on the South Carolina presidential election ballot.
Good thing Kanye isn’t trying to attract black voters.

Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue showed up at the White House Rose Garden on Thursday and heaped political praise on Donald Trump, saying things like:
We are all truly blessed … to have a leader like President Trump who is a builder ….
After calls to boycott Goya Foods products went viral, Unanue doubled down in a Fox News interview on Friday, saying that the negative reaction to his remarks was “suppression of speech.” Here’s our response:
