This donkey looks determined
The Democratic National Committee (DNC), the official arm of the Democratic Party, has announced that it is launching a “War Room” operation to take on Donald Trump and his administration. According to the DNC, the War Room is intended:
to expand and streamline the DNC’s communications, research, and mobilization operations. The operation will use a “walls down” approach between these departments to take a more aggressive posture with rapid response.
More specifically:
The War Room will incorporate four main pillars: expanding Democrats’ reach into new information spaces, modernizing the rapid response operation to drive aggressive daily messaging to counter to the Trump Administration, leveraging creative opposition tactics and an expansive research operation to put Republicans on the back foot in district and in the beltway, and launching a modernized misinformation counterprogramming vertical to combat the lies from the right.
Along with its War Room, the Democrats have been holding a series of “People’s Town Halls” in Republican Congressional districts during Congress’ two-week April recess. The town halls are designed to highlight the fact that most Republican members of Congress are too afraid to hold such public meetings in their districts, and indeed were advised against holding them by their own Republican National Congressional Committee Chair. Obviously, Republicans are scared about their constituents’ anger over Trump’s illegal kidnappings, his disastrous tariffs, and more. Indeed, one of the few Republican lawmakers to hold a town hall, 91 year-old U.S. Senator Charles Grassley, came under heavy fire from constituents during his meeting.
Along with other actions, such as U.S. Senator Cory Booker‘s recent record-breaking 25-hour floor speech, as well as the nationwide “Hands Off!” protests that took place on April 5 (with follow-up protests set for this Saturday, April 19), it’s fair to say that the Democrats are increasing their resistance efforts against Donald Trump and the Republicans.
